Portrait of a best friend

Here the first images of a very special friend

The challenge to capture  the individual and their expression

Here we go.... Early days and after build up, the first base of clay is ready

Next a focus on the eyes and shape of topline

Checking the match

Lots of coat to do later - after the home visit
Focus on the eyes and then cheeks and nose continues

Areas round the eyes and brow are added and the face balanced - you can see the pins used for checking and focusing on key points/measuring.
Alongside  the lovely original, photographed from similar angles.
Precious time together and help with all those details to make Dotty

All done and through the foundry...ready for THAT  Birthday ...big Smiles

If you are looking for a detailed sculpture of a horse or dog breed, or other subject, do look at those available in the GALLERY.
It is also sometimes possible for JOEL to modify and so personalise one of these sculptures in the wax stage of production.

There are special bases that can be made to make your sculpture unique, or to carry an engraved tribute.
